General Description

The MC3110 is a low-power, integrated digital output 3-axis accelerometer. Compensation of gain and offset error is accomplished via electronic trimming at the factory. The sampling interval can be programmed from a high rate of 1024 samples/s down to a powersaving low rate of 1 sample/s. Even greater power savings can be achieved by taking advantage of the MC3110’s Event Detect Processing (EDP™). Specific orientation and gesture conditions trigger an interrupt for a remote MCU, allowing the MCU to remain in a standby or sleep state until an event occurs.

Additional custom features can be integrated for high-volume applications. The device is packaged in 3 x 3 x 1.0 mm 10-pin VDFN. Two pinout options are available.

Principle of Operation

The Mcube MC3110 Accelerometer is a single chip MEMS capacitive sensing g-cell with a signal

conditioning circuit. The sensor can be modeled as a moveable beam that moves between two

mechanically fixed beams. Two gaps are formed on each side of the moveable beam with each stationary

beam. A digital processing section generates a digital output proportional to acceleration.
